Preventative Maintenance

Carpets act as a filter, trapping dust, dirt, gases, animal hair, and other soils. All carpet manufacturers agree on actions you can take between carpet cleanings to increase the life span of your carpet.

IICRC states that 79% of soil in carpet is dry soil. Vacuuming is a key component to proper care and maintenance of carpet.

Preventative maintenance actions include:

  • Regular vacuuming
  • Spot removal
  • Pilating the carpet to prevent matting
  • Moving furniture to change traffic patterns
  • Using walk-off mats to limit the amount of soil tracked onto the carpet

Professional Cleaning

Our professional cleaning can address moderate and heavy soil conditions in your carpets. How often you’ll need professional cleaning depends on soil build-up, traffic, type and color of carpeting. A good rule of thumb would be to professionally clean your carpet every 12 months. The best advice is to clean carpets before they become totally saturated with soil. If you wait until carpets look really dirty, the carpets may never be restored to their former appearance. Dirt builds up in layers, and when a carpet looks dirty you are only seeing the dirt at the tips of the fibers. More dirt is hiding below the surface down near the base of the pile, causing damage to the carpet. When a carpet is saturated with dirt, the soil has penetrated crevices and has become firmly lodged.

We will get the job done right. For a cleaning backed by state-of-the-art equipment, over 40 years of experience and Professionals trained to the highest standards, call us today.

Tips to Organizing your Garage this Season!

Cleaning Tips to Organizing your Garage this Season! Organizing your Garage!

According to the American Cleaning Institute only 44% of people spring cleaning include their garage on their to do list. For the other 66% of you, here are some tips to organizing your garage this season!

1. Clear everything out

Before you can dive into cleaning, you’ll first need to take everything out of the garage.

Tip: Pick a weekend with a clear weather forecast. Rain won’t just dampen your spring cleaning motivation, but it can damage any equipment you want to put outside for the time being.

2. Sort through the mess

Once the garage is emptied, it’s time to sort through all the items and junk accumulated outside. A tried and true method is to separate your things into four piles: donation, sell, toss, and keep.

After this step, the only items you’ll have left are the things you want to keep.

Tip: Organize your keep pile into categories.

For instance, you might have sections of sports equipment, lawn care tools, gardening accessories, beach toys, etc.

By putting like items together, it will be easier to organize your space when you’re ready to put everything back.

3. Wipe down, sweep and hose the garage

With the garage cleared out and your items sorted, it’s time to give the space some much-needed TLC. To start, wipe down flat surfaces like shelving, windows and walls with a damp rag. If you have drywall, you can use a broom to sweep off excess dirt, dust or cobwebs.

Tip: There will be a lot of dust flying around, so you might want to wear a mask.

Any dirt that didn’t end up on your wash rag likely made it to the floor, so it’s best to sweep after. Pay attention to the corners and any other hard-to-reach spots. You’ll want the space well-swept before washing it out with the hose.

Once you’ve swept the area, hook up your garden hose and wash out any lingering grime. If you have a coated floor, feel free to add some cleaner to the water and squeegee the floor dry.

4. Inspect the garage door system

While you should regularly inspect and maintain your garage door system, spring cleaning is a great time to give each component a once-over and make sure everything is properly aligned, well-oiled and working properly.

Check to see that the door opener works correctly and that the rollers are in place. Use a rag to wipe the door sensors and make sure both sensors are aligned. Conduct a visual inspection of moving parts for rust or damage.

5Organize the chaos

With the garage cleaned, you can now focus on organizing the chaos outside. Hopefully, with the items grouped by category, this part shouldn’t be too overwhelming.

Tip: Take time to plan your layout. Consider what things you use the most and place them in an area that is easily accessible. Dedicate areas of the garage to specific types of equipment so you always know where to find what you’re looking for.

6Don’t forget the exterior

For the cherry on top, don’t forget to tidy up the garage exterior. Use a broom to dust out any cobwebs in the eaves and sweep up the pile of dirt and grime you just washed out of the garage.

For bonus points, wipe down the garage door with a soapy sponge and use a hose or pressure washer to spray off built-up grime.

The result will be a beautiful garage inside and out.

The garage can be a daunting spring cleaning project, but with some careful planning and a little TLC, you can transform your garage this season!
